Wood Carving Classes, Workshops and Training:

Picture
Leo is happy to provide personalized instruction and “classes” to help you look at developing the carving skills or insights you need and want to go to your next level.  It’s important that you contact him and open a discussion on what would suit your needs, both in terms of timing and designing the best opportunity for your investment in learning. As an occupational therapist, he has always focused on the needs and desiring of the individual and figured out a way to get the best for that person.  He takes the same focus in developing the classes you need to get where you want to be.  When you come it’s not about a step by step process of, here is how you carve, it more about:  “What is it you want to learn?”  Whether that’s starting with the basics of design, setup, pre-shaping and then adding details to focusing on textures and details let him know.  He can help you apply you skills to gun stocks, carve wood that are ¼” thick to 3 or 4 inches his gallery shows he doesn’t just do one style and can help you look at what where you want to go with yours.

Leo can also do workshops for clubs or small groups in your own area.  He has done so over the years in varied capacities. Weekend workshops such as working with Scout Troops who want to earn their Merit badge or doing one or two day demos as well as working with adult learns and groups on a specific project.  He has run a small carving group at an assisted living group for several years and many are pleased with how much they have learned and how therapeutic carving is for the soul.

The important thing is to contact him and see what possibilities and dreams you can make happen.  Use the contact page to get the discussion started. Class typically run $375 for 3 day workshop; plus wood. If you don't have tools you can use those in the studio.

Cheers,

Leo

Below is a series of photos that show the relief carving process in progress.  Often times carvings look very crude and hard to "see the image" coming forth until the details are put in place. This will be a favorite topic of mine - Aspen Trees.  I will frame it in wood like a portal.
